Answers to common questions about the Accounting page: switching companies, working with monthly periods, and creating trial balance and account transaction reports.

What is the Accounting page?

On the Accounting page you keep track of your company's monthly accounting periods. It's also where you create the two main accounting reports: the trial balance and the account transactions report. To open it, click Accounting in the left-hand menu.

  • Accounting in the left-hand menu opens the page.

  • Company: the company you're working with.

  • The Account transactions report and Trial balance report buttons.

  • Month cards: one card for each accounting period, newest first.

  • Events to review: items waiting for your attention.

How do I switch to another company?

  • Click the Company field at the top left of the page.

  • Pick the company from the list.

Choose the company first, because the month cards and reports on the page are for the company selected here. The trial balance report also picks this company by default.

What do the month cards show?

Each card is one accounting period, shown as month and year (for example, August 2026). The badge in the bottom-left corner shows the period's status. Open means the month hasn't been closed yet.

The newest month comes first. To see earlier months, scroll inside the card area.

How do I download the trial balance for one month?

  • Find the card for that month.

  • Click the (three dots) button in the card's top-right corner.

  • Choose Download trial balance.

How do I soft close a month?

  • Click on the card of the month you want to close.

  • Choose Soft close month.

You can only soft close months that have already ended (see the next question).

Why is "Soft close month" greyed out?

You can't change the status of the current month or a future month. If you hover over the greyed-out option, you'll see: "You cannot change the status of the current or future period." Wait until the month has ended, then try again.

How do I create a trial balance report for several months?

  • Click the blue Trial balance report button at the top right.

  • Under Select date, make sure Multiple month is selected.

  • Fill in From and To.

  • Under Select company asset, check the company. It's the company selected on the page unless you change it.

  • Click Generate report.

  • Switch between Single month and Multiple month.

  • The From and To months.

  • Company asset name: the company the report is for.

  • Generate report.

How do I create a trial balance report for a single month?

  • Click Trial balance report.

  • Select Single month.

  • Click Select month and pick the month. You can also type it as MM YYYY.

  • Check the company, then click Generate report.

Tip: for a quick trial balance of one month, you can also click on the month's card and choose Download trial balance.

How do I see all transactions for one account?

  • Click Account transactions report at the top right.

  • Click Account number and choose the account. To shorten the list, type part of the account number or name.

  • Under Transaction period, fill in From and To.

  • Click Generate report.

Accounts are shown as number – name, for example 111041 – Cash to 881221.

Why can't I click "Generate report"?

In the Account transaction report window, the button stays greyed out until you fill in the required fields. Choose an account and enter both the From and To dates.

What is "Events to review"?

The panel on the right lists events waiting for your review. When there's nothing to check, it shows "No events to display – You have no pending events to review."
