Overview

When creating stops for orders, you can add new location destinations directly from the stop creation interface without leaving your workflow. This feature allows you to either create permanent locations that are saved to your system or temporary locations for one-time use.

Creating a New Location from the Map

How It Works

When you're adding a stop to an order and need to create a new location:

  1. Open the stop creation dialog by clicking "Add Stop" in your order details

  2. Click Select Location button

  3. Click directly on the map where the stop location should be or type address in the search

  4. Enter the location details in the form on the left side

What you'll need to provide:

  • Address - Auto-populated from the map coordinates you clicked

  • Location name - Required field (e.g., "Acme Warehouse", "Customer Distribution Center")

  • Phone number - Optional but recommended

  • Location tag - Optional category for organizing locations

  • Driver instructions - Optional special directions or notes

Temporary Locations for Additional Stops

What Are Temporary Locations?

Temporary locations are one-time destinations that exist only for the specific order stop you're creating. They are not saved permanently to your locations database.

When to use temporary locations:

  • One-time delivery to a driver's home address

  • Emergency reroute to an unusual location

  • Special pickup that won't repeat

  • Testing or temporary operational changes

Important: Temporary locations can only be created for additional stops, not for primary pickup or delivery stops.

Creating a Temporary Location

Requirements:

  • You must be adding an additional stop (not the main pickup or delivery)

Process:

  1. Click "Add Stop" for an additional stop on your order

  2. Click Select location button

  3. Click on the map to select the location

  4. Enter basic location details (name and address are required)

  5. Look for the "Save as temporary location" option (or similar checkbox/toggle)

  6. Enable the temporary location option

  7. Click "Confirm" to create the stop

What happens:

  • The location is created for this stop only

  • It will not appear in your locations list for future orders

  • If you need this location again, you'll need to recreate it or save it as a permanent location

Important Notes

⚠️ Creating Temporary Locations:

  • Temporary locations are only available for additional stops

  • You cannot create temporary pickup or delivery stops

  • If you try to use a temporary location regularly, consider saving it as permanent instead

⚠️ Address Accuracy:

  • Always verify the auto-populated address after clicking on the map

  • Add suite numbers, building names, or other details not captured by coordinates

  • Include address line 2 information for complex facilities

⚠️ Location Names:

  • Use descriptive, searchable names

  • Include city names if you have multiple locations for the same customer

  • Avoid generic names like "Location 1" that don't help identify the destination

⚠️ Required Fields:

  • Location name is always required

  • Address is required (auto-filled from map click)

  • Other fields are optional but highly recommended for driver success

Troubleshooting

Issue: Address doesn't match the map location

Issue: The auto-filled address seems incorrect for where you clicked

Cause: Map geocoding may not be precise for rural areas or new developments Solution:

  1. Verify the coordinates shown are close to the actual location

  2. Add detailed driver instructions to help find the location

  3. Consider using a nearby landmark and noting the difference in instructions

If the location is very hard to find: Include GPS coordinates in the driver instructions field.

Issue: Can't find location after creating it

Issue: You created a location but it doesn't appear in searches

Possible Causes:

  1. It was created as temporary - Temporary locations only exist for that one order

  2. Search terms don't match - Try searching by address, city, or customer name

  3. Location tag filter - Check if you have location filters applied in your search

Solution:

  • If it was temporary, recreate as permanent location

  • Try broader search terms

  • Clear any active filters in the location list

  • Check if you have the right customer selected if using customer-linked locations
