If the driver was involved in an accident, the accident has to be reported. In this article, we'll delve into the necessary steps to address the aftermath of the accident, focusing particularly on the management of the remaining load carried by the truck.

Reporting the accident

  • Reporting the accident is mandatory, the steps on how to manage and report an accident can be found here.

Handling the cargo after the accident

  • Different companies have different workflows when it comes to accident aftermath;

  • There are a few options to be considered when handling the situation:

    • After an accident another truck can pick up the remaining load and transfer it. If this is the case, the leg has to be split. Detailed information on how to split a leg can be found here.

    • If the truck is fixed and ready to use after an accident, ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) and PTA (Projected Time of Arrival) has to be updated, and the customer has to be informed about these timeframe changes.

Changing the ETA and PTA

  • There are two ways to change the ETA and PTA, by pressing on ETA or PTA, and by going the Communication tab.

  • To change the ETA and PTA, go to Planning and press Dispatch:

  • Select an order and hover on the ETA:

  • Press on it and first describe the situation from the following list:

    • New information;

    • Arriving sooner;

    • Leaving soon;

    • Driver resting;

    • Driver oversleep;

    • Detention;

    • Time off;

    • Traffic issue;

    • Traffic accident;

    • Off route;

  • Add a comment to describe the situation:

  • To change the ETA, press on the slider, and enter the date, time and other information related to the ETA changes:

  • Then select the Confidence level:

    • Uncertain;

    • Certain;

  • The same can be done with PTA, press on the slider and select the date and time of the PTA:

  • Then select the Confidence level:

    • Uncertain;

    • Certain;

  • Press Save, the changes will be saved and displayed to the users.

  • The same steps can be applied in the Communications tab, when adjusting the ETA and PTA.

  • Select the driver, and press on it, then on the left side of the screen select Communications, to change the ETA and PTA, press on Driver check-in:
